Drexciya Day 2026, Attosecond, new Drexciya short film and more

It's very fitting that the first Drexciya Day event I've been made aware of will be happening in Detroit! Elixir is a weekly club in the Northern Lights Lounge and on Thursday 3rd September they are staging Beyond The Abyss to celebrate the music of James Stinson, Drexciya and all musical projects related to them as well as music from contemporaries and influences I'm told.  This sounds like it will be a lot of fun and it's free in.

As many of you will know, Drexciya Day is a celebration (in any form: club, bar set, radio show, podcast etc) which has grown from fans since 2017 and has existed each year since then in a small and sometimes big way. The dates for events are always flexible, give or take a week, but up to now have coincided as close as possible with the date of James Stinson's death (3rd Sept, he will be 24 years gone this year). September is also when Drexciya began as a concept (18th) and suitably even when James Stinson was born (14th). So anytime you want to stage an event in September is good.
Just let me know the details and I can spread the word.

Dopplereffekt have some live shows coming up in the US, Canada, Germany, England and more, details here.

There is a brand new 28 min film on YouTube about Drexciya which uses a mixture of archival footage, interviews and new information (some from DRL) to tell their story. Well worth a watch.

Attosecond is a new Gerald Donald collaborative project. The personnel listed is Redkina and Lenore, with the absent Donald the suitably named Encryption?  So far you can stream and download 'Exobiology' and there is a photo of the group now too.

There are three songs on a new Bandcamp page for Daughter Produkt. This is a now long running collaborative project featuring Gerald Donald and many others. Two of the tracks are new with 'Directional Asymmetry' originally released on the Dreamy Harbor compilation in 2017 on Tresor.

Black Eyes aka Prince of Hydro managed to make this super clear AI generated image of James Stinson from a blurry photo of members of UR in Ele-King/Straight No Chaser magazine (1999). The original photo was taken by Kumiko Nakata.

Richard Brophy sent me this obituary he wrote for DJMag about James Stinson back in 2002, good to have in the archives.
