Jack Peoples - Laptop Cafe unreleased James Stinson project due on Clone Aqualung

Great and very unexpected news! Clone Aqualung will be releasing an unreleased James Stinson project, under the name Jack Peoples, on June 26th this year. It will be a mini vinyl LP under the name, Laptop Cafe. You can listen to samples of all six untitled tracks (there are 5 new tracks but there is a vocal and instrumental version of one) at Soundcloud, download the artwork and samples of all six tracks at Clone Distribution and listen to the same samples again at the Clone shop! This blurb accompanies the release...

'On the heels of the two "the other people place" releases in the early 2000’s another related mini album was already in the works. It never saw the light of day due to James Stinson’s untimely death. Finally it resurfaced on a long lost DAT tape.'

I wonder how many more unreleased projects and music there might be waiting in his vaults, time for Digital Aphrodisiac maybe? James Stinson is most definitely living on through his music and gaining more aliases and mystery too.

In my opinion (just judging by the sound snippets) the track sound rather raw an unfinished and alos not that refined as on the "Lifestyles of the Laptop Café" album. Maybe they were just sketches and were not intended for a release.
Of course we'll have to wait for the final release but in my opinion, releasing unfinished material would rather "destroy" the legacy and the magic, if you get my point. I'd rather stick to what gifts he gave us during his lifetime.
    What do you think?
    Cheers

  2. I like what I heard of the EP so far to be honest, it certainly does not sound very much like TOPP but maybe more like the second Transllusion album a bit, which does have a rough and ready production also. I don't think James Stinson produced any demos, his production was always live and raw from what he has said in interviews. I am surprised he would have called the album Laptop Cafe but we have to trust Clone that this is correct (he may have been written in on the DAT). Hopefully any unreleased material that gets released now or in the future will be as good as what he put out when he was alive.

  3. First time I tried it around I'd agree what Anonymous said. Bits sounded "undeveloped". But now, with only second attempt I feel they don't stick out from 9 storms level and can't be credited to anyone but JT, they are definitely magically marked. Nobody on planet could craft these tracks and many try. Wonderful journeys can't wait to hear them thoroughly.
