Cherenkov Radiation is electromagnetic radiation which is emitted when a charged particle passes through an insulator at a speed greater than the speed of light in that medium. It causes the blue glow, pictured, that emits from the water which surrounds nuclear reactors. Read more about it here from Cern, Heinrich Muellers favourite website.
